Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Slated for QB2 in Week 15
Sat, Dec 13, 2025, 10:33 AM
Leonard is expected to operate as the Colts' backup quarterback behind Philip Rivers against the Seahawks on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Leonard appeared poised to take on starting duties for the rest of the season after Daniel Jones tore his Achilles during the Colts' Week 14 loss to the Jaguars. However, Indianapolis opted to sign Rivers to the practice squad Wednesday, and after he and Leonard split first-team reps during Week 15 prep, the Colts have opted to go with the 44-year-old quarterback who hasn't seen regular-season play since 2020. How Rivers plays Sunday will likely determine who remains at the helm for the Colts for the rest of the 2025 campaign.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard No injury designation, starter TBD
Fri, Dec 12, 2025, 3:27 PM
Leonard (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Seahawks after practicing fully this week.
Analysis: While Leonard is healthy enough to be available this weekend, the Colts have yet to reveal their Week 15 starting QB plans, with veteran newcomer Philip Rivers also a candidate to get the nod, per JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site. On that subject, coach Shane Steichen noted Friday afternoon, "We're going to work through that right now. We literally just got off the practice field, but (Rivers) had a good week of work, and we'll have those discussions here in the next couple hours." In any case, in order for Rivers to be in uniform Sunday, the Colts will either need to elevate him to their active roster from the practice squad, or sign him to the 53-man roster by Saturday afternoon's transaction deadline.
Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould Won't play Sunday
Fri, Dec 12, 2025, 2:18 PM
Gould (foot) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Gould sustained a foot injury in the Week 14 loss to the Jaguars and didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so it's no surprise that he won't play Sunday. The second-year pro from Oregon State has operated as Indianapolis' top return man this season, tallying 647 kick-return yards and 131 punt-return yards across 11 appearances. While he's sidelined in Week 15, expect Ameer Abdullah and Josh Downs to handle the Colts' kick- and punt-return duties, respectively.
Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould Misses practice Wednesday
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 4:35 PM
Gould (foot) did not practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Gould was forced out of Indianapolis' game against the Jaguars in Week 14 early due to a foot injury, and he's not yet ready to practice. In the event that Gould isn't able to suit up for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Josh Downs and Ameer Abdullah will be candidates to see expanded work in the return game.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Full practice, Week 15 starter TBD
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 3:27 PM
Leonard (knee) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday.
Analysis: Per JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site, Leonard, who subbed in for an injured Daniel Jones (Achilles) on Sunday against the Jaguars, emerged from Week 14 action with a knee injury. However, the QB's full participant in Wednesday's practice session puts him in a position to be available Sunday against the Seahawks. With Jones out for the rest of the season and Anthony Richardson (orbital) still on IR, Brett Rypien was signed to the team's active roster and 44-year-old Philip Rivers officially joined Indianapolis' practice squad Wednesday. At this stage, coach Shane Steichen acknowledged that the Colts' Week 15 signal-caller plans have yet to be determined and it's possible that Rivers could get the nod (rather than Leonard) versus Seattle, depending on how he fares at practice this week. With that in mind Steichen noted, "we'll see how the week goes...We'll get to the end of the week and make that decision."
Alec Pierce
Alec Pierce Practices without limitations
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 3:15 PM
Pierce (rib) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: The undisclosed injury Pierce suffered on the Colts' final drive of their Week 14 loss to Jacksonville turned out to be to his rib, but he has already shaken off that injury. The team's 2025 leader in receiving yards (769) will be available to face the Seahawks on Sunday, but it remains to be seen who will be throwing Pierce the ball in the wake of Daniel Jones' season-ending Achilles injury.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard In line to practice Wednesday
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 10:51 AM
Leonard (knee) will practice Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: With Daniel Jones out for the season due to an Achilles' injury and Anthony Richardson (orbital) still on IR, Leonard is candidate to start Sunday's game against the Seahawks. However, now that he's dealing with a knee injury the QB's status will need to be monitored closely. Leonard's looming practice participation is a positive sign, but at this stage coach Shane Steichen has yet to reveal the Colts' Week 15 QB plans. Also in the mix on that front are Brett Rypien, who was signed to the team's active roster Wednesday, as well as 44-year-old Philip Rivers, who has officially joined Indianapolis' practice squad. Per Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis, when asked if Leonard would start this weekend if healthy, Steichen said "we will see" while noting that Rivers will be evaluated in practice this week.
Brett Rypien
Brett Rypien Signed to 53-man roster
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 9:07 AM
The Colts signed Rypien to the active roster from the practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Head coach Shane Steichen indicated Monday that Rypien could be in line to start Sunday's game against the Seahawks if Riley Leonard (knee) is forced to miss any time due to the Grade 1 PCL sprain in his right knee, though the team has since officially inked 44-year-old veteran Philip Rivers to the practice squad. Indianapolis' plans at the quarterback position in the wake of Daniel Jones' season-ending Achilles injury figures to be an evolving situation, as Anthony Richardson (orbital) will not come off IR in Week 15 but could also join the picture eventually.
Tyler Goodson
Tyler Goodson Plays one offensive snap
Wed, Dec 10, 2025, 5:28 AM
Goodson failed to record a single carry or target in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: Goodson was a complete nonfactor Sunday, as the running back played just one of the Colts' 70 offensive snaps behind Jonathan Taylor (52) and Ameer Abdullah (17). For fantasy purposes, the 25-year-old Goodson remains an interesting insurance policy if Taylor misses time due to injury, but the Iowa product should otherwise remain far off the fantasy radar when the Colts visit the Seahawks in Week 15.
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones Heads to IR
Tue, Dec 9, 2025, 2:37 PM
The Colts placed Jones (Achilles) on injured reserve Tuesday, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Jones' move to IR was merely a formality after he suffered a season-ending right Achilles tendon rupture Sunday. Head coach Shane Steichen said Monday that Jones is scheduled to undergo surgery "within the week," and given the timing of the injury, the signal-caller will be hard pressed to return to full health in advance of Week 1 of the 2026 campaign. The former Giant had been in the midst of the most efficient season of his career while leading the Colts to a 8-5 record, completing 68.0 percent of his passes for 8.1 yards per attempt and a 19:8 TD:INT while adding 164 yards and five scores on the ground. The 28-year-old appeared to have put himself in position for a lucrative long-term deal with the Colts or another club in free agency this spring, but the Achilles injury could result in him having to settle for a smaller contract.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Dealing with PCL sprain
Tue, Dec 9, 2025, 9:50 AM
Leonard was diagnosed with a Grade 1 PCL sprain of his right knee following Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Jaguars, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: After Daniel Jones sustained a season-ending torn right Achilles tendon late in the first quarter of Sunday's contest, Leonard stepped in for the remainder of the game. Though the rookie didn't miss a snap after taking over the offense, he emerged from the game with a knee issue that threatens his availability for a Week 15 game in Seattle. The Colts plan to have Leonard make his first NFL start this weekend if he's healthy enough to do so, as Anthony Richardson (orbital) has yet to resume practicing and will remain on injured reserve for at least one more week. Practice squad member Brett Rypien is the lone healthy quarterback in the Colts organization at the moment however, and would get the nod in Leonard can't play. Regardless of Leonard's status for Sunday, Indianapolis is expected to add depth to its quarterback room, and 44-year-old Philip Rivers worked out for the team Monday night. Because Rivers hasn't played professionally since 2020, the Colts would have him start out on the practice squad if he gets signed rather than having him immediately challenge Leonard or Rypien for a spot on the depth chart.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Has strained knee
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 6:54 PM
Leonard is dealing with a strained knee ligament and is considered week-to-week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Leonard was diagnosed with a right knee injury Monday after making his second career appearance against the Jaguars in emergency duty Sunday. Leonard was lined up to be the Colts' starter after Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, though his status is now uncertain heading into a Week 15 matchup against the Seahawks. Indianapolis will almost certainly have to bring in quarterback depth this week, and reports have recently emerged that Philip Rivers will be brought in for a workout Tuesday.
Ameer Abdullah
Ameer Abdullah Three touches in blowout loss
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 3:49 PM
Abdullah had one carry for four yards and two receptions for five yards on two targets in Sunday's 39-16 loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Abdullah played a season-high 17 snaps on offense as he got playing time late amid a blowout loss. Abdullah looks clearly ahead of Tyler Goodson and DJ Giddens in the backup running back role, though that order may change if starter Jonathan Taylor were to get hurt.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Week 15 status uncertain
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 2:45 PM
Coach Shane Steichen noted Monday that "the hope" is Leonard (right knee) will be able to play Sunday against the Seahawks, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: At this stage, Steichen can't say for certain that Leonard will be available this weekend, which means that current practice squad member Brett Rypien may be pressed into duty in Week 15. In any case, it seems likely that the Colts will bring in another QB in short order, with Daniel Jones out for the season with an Achilles' injury and Anthony Richardson (orbital) still on IR.
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones Season-ending injury confirmed
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 1:50 PM
Coach Shane Steichen confirmed Monday that Jones sustained a torn right Achilles during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The quarterback will miss the remainder of the 2025 season and is slated to undergo surgery within the next week, per Steichen. Sixth-round rookie Riley Leonard, who replaced Jones Sunday, is also dealing with a knee injury of his own, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. While Steichen thinks Leonard will be able to play in Week 15 against the Seahawks, that's not a lock to happen. With Anthony Richardson (orbital fracture) still on IR and not in line to be activated this week, practice squad member Brett Rypien could end up drawing the start instead of Leonard. In his first campaign with Indianapolis, Jones had been re-establishing himself as a viable QB1, throwing for 3,101 yards with a 19:8 TD in 13 games to go along with 45 carries for 164 yards and five rushing TDs. The 28-year-old is facing a lengthy rehab, and considering that he's on track to become a free agent this offseason, his future with the Colts is uncertain.
Anthony Richardson
Anthony Richardson Will remain on IR
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 1:40 PM
Richardson (orbital) will not be activated from injured reserve this week, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: The Colts find themselves in need of options at the quarterback spot with Daniel Jones (Achilles) out for the season and Riley Leonard (knee) also banged up, but Richardson will not be one of them immediately, as his recovery continues from the orbital fracture he sustained in mid-October. Brett Rypien -- who is on the practice squad -- is the only Colts quarterback without an injury concern heading into Week 15.
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard Dealing with knee injury
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 1:36 PM
Leonard is dealing with a knee injury, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Leonard replaced an injured Daniel Jones (Achilles) in Sunday's contest and finished out the game, but it appears he picked up an injury of his own. The extent of the injury is not yet known. With Jones out for the season and Anthony Richardson (orbital) on injured reserve, practice-squad quarterback Brett Rypien is currently the only healthy Colts quarterback option.
Daniel Jones
Daniel Jones Diagnosed with torn Achilles
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 12:52 PM
Jones was diagnosed with a torn right Achilles tendon, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
Analysis: Jones underwent an MRI on Monday after leaving Sunday's loss to the Jaguars with an Achilles injury, and it was confirmed that he is dealing with a setback that will bring an end to his season. A timeline for his recovery was not provided, but his absence will almost certainly be measured in months. Sixth-round rookie Riley Leonard replaced Jones in Sunday's contest, and both Anthony Richardson (orbital) and Brett Rypien could be in the mix for snaps, though Richardson is on injured reserve and Rypien currently resides on the practice squad.
Michael Pittman
Michael Pittman Targeted 12 times
Sun, Dec 7, 2025, 9:41 PM
Pittman recorded nine receptions on 12 targets for 79 yards in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: Pittman had been on the wrong end of the target distribution among Colts' pass catchers in recent weeks, but he rebounded to lead the team in opportunity in Week 14. He was targeted primarily in short areas of the field by Riley Leonard, leading to a modest yardage total, though he did manage a long 24-yard catch shortly after halftime. Pittman nearly had an even bigger day, as he appeared to have a 16-yard touchdown that was ultimately nullified by a borderline pass interference call. While this was an encouraging performance, Pittman could struggle down the stretch with Daniel Jones (Achilles) out for the rest of the year.
Alec Pierce
Alec Pierce Undisclosed injury on last drive
Sun, Dec 7, 2025, 9:09 PM
Pierce left the final drive of Sunday's loss at Jacksonville with an undisclosed injury, but was not in the concussion protocol despite a broadcast report saying he was being evaluated for a concussion, the Indianapolis Star reports. "You can ask the trainers," Pierce said. "Not going to talk about injuries."
Analysis: NFL players are not allowed to talk to reporters after the game if in the concussion protocol, so a concussion can be ruled out at this point. It sounds like a minor injury but check his status in practice early in the week. Pierce recorded five receptions on eight targets for 80 yards in the loss.
